Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1752
Missing row height resizing for tables
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:21 UTC
Users cannot resize the height of rows in a table.
The tables in Writer are designed to contain something (most common use: text or numbers) and therefore the table formatting allows to set a distance between the text and the border in order to get a bigger table cell than needed to display the text. (Format-Table-Borders ->"Spacing to text"). So far, this in combination with empty paragraph lines is a workaround to "draw a check pattern". Nevertheless, one might consider a feature like "minimum (or maximum/auto) cell height" to adjust empty cells to filled ones in order to get a specific layout for the table. Reassigned to Falko.
We will re-work the whole table management of Writer in the future. Your suggestion will be discussed then.

Row heights can also be used to line up data with other items, images for instance. I think that it is very useful to be able to resize on the fly each row. A simple cursor change and a drag mode on heights to match the behavior for column widths, would work. Thanks, Nathan
