It might be a very good feature to allow transliteration type of documents into
the writer program.

As you know, what it can do is lets say you have to type "hum" in Hindi in
devanagari script. What a person is expected to do is change his/her keyboard
to hindi and start typing in hindi, he is expected to know the hindi
keyboard...if this can be extended to allow you type "hum" in english and the
program converts this to "hum" in devanagari script and displays both the
english and hindi letters. Later if the person dicides that hindi was not what
he wanted but he wants arabic..the program just changes all these to arabic.
The phonetic of the word in all three languages remains "hum" only the script
changes.

The advantage of this system is that if a person knows the language but does not
know to write in it or lets say there are two people who want to communicate and
one can write/read/speak in english + speak arabic
other can speak/write/read arabic only

There is an excellant program which gives this feature and it is also available
free. The web site is http://www.baraha.com/ but it would be nice if this gets
built into OpenOffice. No other office suite has this feature...so good to
start before competition thinks of it.

Regards,

Edward

Hi,
I am strongly agree with you. This translation program would be really helpful for people who want to communicate with other foreigners. And, this would be a great learning tool, because you can learn new vocabulary while having the language you know displaces with the foreign language together.
