Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18463
bullet is underlined when underlining is applied to the text
Last modified: 2014-04-17 23:43:54 UTC
When underlining is applied to the text in a bulleted list, the bullet symbol is also underlined. This only happens in the wordprocessor, not in Impress, where underlined text does not affect the bullet. When the document is saved as a .doc and opened in MSWord, the bullet underlining disappears. When an MSWord document with underlined text in a bulleted list is opened in ooo, the bullet is also underlined.
Another one of those irritating things I noticed but did nothing about. Yes, it's a bug. KWord and MS Word handle it properly (bullets and following space NOT underlined), but OOo does not. This is in linux.
Reassigned to OS.
All character attributes that are applied to the paragraph either from the paragraph style of from hard attributes set at the entire paragraph are applied to the numbering symbol as well. ->FT: Should this be changed?
Here's what we need to do for Latin text: What happens if a [Fonteffect] is applied to [Bullet] or [Numbering]? X = font effect will be taken over by bullet and/or numbering. Fonteffect | Bullet * | Numbering 1,2,3... --------------------------------------------- Typeface | X | X Size | X | X Language | X | X Color | X | X Bold | | X Italic | | X Underline | | EmphasisM(CJK)| X | X Strikethrough | X | X Effects | X | X Relief | X | X Outline | X | X Blinking | X | X Shadow | X | X Hidden | X | X Position (all)| X | X
Reassigned to MRU
MRu->FT: I think, the new assignment table makes sense in most cases. Attributes like relief/outline/... should still change the also the number's properties, otherwise it would look ugly. But: I do not think it makes sense to assign Outline/Relief to a bullet symbol. Try out; in my opinion it does not look good.
Please have a look to our main competitor. Here you will find what is changed and what not.
MRU->OS: ...seems to be the target, to copy the competitor. Please apply Falko's new table assignment to Writer's formating behaviour for numberings/bullets.
os->fme: Your job.

FME: I changed this according to Falko's table.
FME: Fixed in sw/source/core/text/txtfld.cxx rev. 1.15.182.1 (cws os23)
.
Checked new attribute assignment with CWS os23.
Verified. New assignment ehaviour will be intergeated in OO 2.0.
checked with src680m19 == > ok Only the text is underlined not the bullets...

My issue 89814 has been marked as duplicate of this issue - a 5(!!) year old bug. About the 3rd or 4th time I discover that issues are being filed by users, read, commented, and then being 'filed for good', without any measures being undertaken. It's seems like "Let's wait and see, how many are gonna vote for this and that, to see if it's worth the effort.", instead of checking the project for long-term-issues every now and then and for a lack of commonly used features in other word processors. Dear dev's, that's not very encouraging to make further problem reports! typist
Funny - my unresolved issue being set to "fixed" and linked to an unfixed isse that was set to 'fixed' years ago. Hehe - I begin to understand how a whole bunch of teething troubles could survive that long in OO, and how they probably will continue to survive - SAD. typist
MRU->typist: As far as I am able to see, your issue 89814 has been marked as duplicate of issue 89252... which is unresolved and targeted to be resolved in OOo 3.0. So please calm down.
yes, you are right! sorry for that. apparently, I missed the fact, that issue 89252 wasn't closed and re-linked to this one - there's just reference to it. actually I thought it was an age-old bug, like most of the other one's I reported before. can't judge, whether it's a re-introduction of a bug in this case, or a new one, though. typist
