Description bulbul 2003-08-21 07:38:45 UTC
Page 29 of the OOo 1.1 Beta Developer's Guide describes how to set up OOo to
always listen for a connection by modifying the ...../Setup.xml file. No such
file exists anywhere either in the installation directory or in the user's OOo
directory. The section needs to be changed to reflect how to do this. (And
please clue me in on this bug, because i still can't figure out what file to
edit to do this.)

By the way, the 2.3.1 section also needs to be updated with the current version
numbers for OOo, StarOffice, and (?) Java.

Hi bulbul ,

where can I find the version of the "dev guide" with the reported problem?

Look at section 2.3.3 ("Configuration") of the Developer's Guide which comes
with the SDK. I'm not sure if i have the latest version, but it's likely to be
the 1.1 final version. In the version i have now (which must be more recent than
the one under which i reported this), it's on page 31 of the guide. Just open up
the "First Steps" chapter and search for "Setup.xml".

I checked manual on
<http://api.openoffice.org/docs/DevelopersGuide/FirstSteps/FirstSteps.htm#1+3+3+Configuration>

Found text:
"Note: In versions before OpenOffice.org 1.1.0, there are several differences.

The configuration setting that makes the office listen everytime is located
elsewhere. Open the file
<OfficePath>/share/config/registry/instance/org/openoffice/Setup.xml in an
editor, and look for the element:

<ooSetupConnectionURL cfg:type="string"/> ..."

I checked with 1.1.0 German version WIN XP: 645m19(Build8693) a can not find any
file "Setup.xml" anywhere on my PC.

I still can not find that "Setup.xml" on my PC, and it is still noted on URL.

What shell we do with this issue?
Comment 5 pavel 2005-12-14 12:35:43 UTC
api project: can you update the documentation in HTML form?
Comment 6 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-12-19 17:59:06 UTC
URI has been modified Fri., 28. Oktober 2005 11:22:13, text still mentions
"Setup.xml" taht can not eb found in my "2.0.1 RC5 German version WIN XP:
[680m1(Build8990)]".

Can it eb that that chapter wants to tell us that taht file only existed before
1.1.0?

This Issue requires more information ('needmoreinfo'), but has not been updated
within the last year. Please re-test with one of the latest versions of OOo -
the problem(s) may already be addressed. Either use the latest stable version:
http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing):
http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/

Please report back the outcome of your testing, so this Issue may be closed or
progressed as necessary - otherwise the issue may be Resolved as Invalid in the
future. You may also wish to search for (and note) any duplicates of this Issue
that may have progressed further :
