Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18528
Loss of page numbers on DOC import
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
Page numbers in Word 2000 document footer are lost when opened with OOo 1.1 RC3.

I can reproduce it on 1.1 Rc4 Win Xp actually you didnt need to attach all the page, you can cut only some page and attach it, so it is smaller and easier to upload/download

change to new
MRU->CMC: Another case, where the page layout (here: the footer content) is changed with a section break. For CWS filter12 you have fixed a similar one (#112027), but this seems to be a bit different.

cmc->ama: Heres an example of a nightmare scenario with continuous sections in word. The basic problem is that all sections in word can have their own headers and footers, generally the continous sections are just set to use the same headers and footers as the previous section, which maps generally well to our sections inside pages which have headers and footers, but (as the final example best shows), when the continuous sections have their own different hd/ft there are obvious problems. In that case the first page after the start of the continuous section uses the headers and footer of the continuous section. So in the example on page 3 there is a continuous section with different hd/ft set for it. The hd/ft on this page are that of the previous normal section because the page starts with content of the previous section, but if the new continuous section expand onto the next page, then the next pages get the new continuous sections hd/fts. I see no way to hac k this with follow styles :-( In the (fairly common) case where users insert a continuous section that has different hd/ft and there is a user inserted page break inside the section, then for #112027# I've come up with putting a page break with page style instead of the bare page break which works in a lot of cases, but thats only a workaround which doesn't work in the general case when there is no suitable hard page break available like this example.
We should create a new property for sections: "Preferred Pagestyle" which doesn't force a hard page break but will used for the page style after the next (soft) page break. We'll see if we manage this in the timeframe for 2.0.
added oooqa, ms_interoperability
Should be solved in a later version.
