Description eric.savary 2003-08-28 13:14:21 UTC
Menu "Insert - Graphics - Scan - Request"
-> Request is not a very good term. Other programs (MS) sometimes use Aquire but
it's not good rither.

This should be considered in conjunction with the menu overhaul.
Comment 2 Martin Hollmichel 2004-08-09 14:02:32 UTC
according to http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=releases&msgNo=7690
this issue will be set to OOoLater

In SO8/OOo2.0 this is found under "Insert - Picture - Scan - Request"

liz->CJ: reassigning to you because I think this menu entry is old-fashioned
anyway. Shouldn't it say something about "scanner or _camera_" because nowadays
people connect their cameras to computers just like they used to do with
scanners. Or does our feature really only support scanners? Will it support
cameras in office later?

At any rate, you have a better overview of the terminology in this area, so I
imagine you can find a better menu item than "Request". My only idea is
something like "Connect to Scanner" but then I don't see the difference from the
"Select Source" entry above it.

Issue still present in 2.1, and for ever if none cares.

"Acquérir" is perfectly correct in French, when "Requérir" is not adapted to the context.

It would be great people start to see we can miss migrations, just because of bad translations, who can be
fixed in one minute only.

ES->CJ: this issue blocks issue 17773.
Comment 6 christian.jansen 2007-06-20 09:20:44 UTC
Changed target to 2.4
We need a contempory solution which works for Unix, Win & Mac.
I'll close issue 17773, but add the comments here.

Comments from 17773:

Hi,
Fr translation is wrong under Insertion > Image > Scanner > Requérir. The last
choice [Requérir] should be changed for [Acquérir].
Thanks
Sophie

The translation is correct because the English version shows Request
-> Requérir and not Acquire -> Acquérir.
But both terms will need to be reviewed anyway (See Issue 18769)
