Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18785
opening a document while another one loads doesn't work
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:18:20 UTC
make sure no OOo app has been loaded before. open a large Writer document from Windows Start->Recent Files open another Writer document while the first one loads after the first has finished loading that's it: the second one doesn't load
Problem wasn´t reproducible when using a more recent build like 8683. Be sure, that no office-apps are running when opening a document via start/recent files. When using large documents, loading may take a while.
you can verify this even so: select multiple OOo (Writer) files in Explorer, press Return: on my PC it stopped loading after the 2nd document where it took long to render some images on the first page
I checked with 1.1.0 German version WIN98SE: 645m19(Build8693) and can confirm the problem (and also from my experiance): 0. close OOo 1. Unzip attached file 'openmulti.zip' on your WIN98 PC you will get a folder '18785_not_open_multi' with 5 documents in it 2. mark all 5 documents in the folder in WIN EXPLORER 3. rightclick - open expected: all 5 documents will be opened in OOo actual: 1 document will be opened on a 400MHz-PC, 2 on 667MHz-PC I can also confirm, that it does not work to open an OOo- document from "Windows Start->Recent Files" as long as still another file is being loaded. I also made a test with WIN WORD2000: 11. marked 15 .doc - documents in the WIN EXPLORER 12. rightclick - open expected: all 15 files will be opened in WORD actual: as expected So: NEW, Version 1.1.0, recommended TM 2.0 Additional comment: actually it is not advisable to open more than one document in time because of issue 17124! Created attachment 11439 [details] testkit (see comment Rainer Bielefeld)
TM->LO: Checked with latest 680 build and latest 645FIX build -> reproducible on Win98, on Win XP OK !
retargetted due to heavy workload
dispatch to framework
cd: Accepted and set target to OOo 2.3.
set target to OOo Later, there is a workaround for this problem and it's occuring on Win98 only, in comparison to other issues I think this is of low severity.
