Description Peter 2003-09-04 13:20:21 UTC
to reproduce:

0. enable the display of paragraph marks (reversed P)
1. open the attached writer document.
2. select arbitrary text from within the paragraph in
the right column (e. g. a single word like "wide"
of the second last line is sufficient) then Ctrl-C
3. place mouse cursor in the last (empty) paragraph
   (just before the single paragraph-sign)
4. press Ctrl-V
5. observe that a break is inserted so that the new text appears
at the beginning of a new column.

expected behavior: the pasted text shall be inserted without
a column break.

confirmed with OOo1.1RC4
this is heard to decide
the selection copys the paragraph attribute. this paragraph has the
attribute column brake and this is set to the empty paragraph if you
insert any selection of the paragraph before. copying any word of
first paragraph in the right column copys the paragraph attributes as
well

usability issue.

set os to all
set to Prio 4
set target to Office later

i let the issue type as defect, because we have to decide if this will
be handled as bug or enhancement

I think the issue described here isn't a bug, though the result will surprising for the first time.

As stated in comment 3 with copying text into clipboard also the paragraph attribute.will be copied. But if you insert the text the paragraph attribute will only assign to previously empty paragraphs. In this way you can copy and paste text and assigned paragraph styles like e. g. headings.

If you dont't want this simply type a character like space before pasting the text. Or use Paste special... and select "Unformatted text".
