Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19492
Allowing Find/Replace to find or replace new lines
Last modified: 2010-11-10 17:20:14 UTC
Simply put, the only thing I still use evilMicroSoft Word for is the find/replace function. Ye can find and replace 'most anything, which is something I do quite a bit. This may have been fixed in a more up-to-date version, but I don't know. If this is something anyone else finds useful/important, I'd appreciate someone wise in the ways of code having a look at it.
Please explain more about your problem, your information is not enough to investigate the problem. Please try using the latest OOo 1.1 Rc4, Your version already old enough, and many bug fixes since your version and 1.1 RC4. If the problem still happend in 1.1 RC4 please report back and Feel free to reopen it again.

marcinowski has right. me also use very much find/replace, for instance to replace 3 enters with one (in ms-office replace ^a^a^a with ^a) or replace 5 tabs with 12 spaces and so on. regular expressions are great for the skilly user but not for the mass. so ms-office will still be the best in this issue. don't leave regular expressions but FINALLY add a simple manner to replace special characters!!! like this it is unusable...
I just figured out how to use this facility, or I would have noted this earlier. I, too, massage documents and emails fairly regularly and really miss how easily MS Word made dealing with this issue (EOL/paragraph/NL marks) of Find and Replace. So far, for me, this has been the only problem I've had with OO. Unfortunately, it is a major problem. The price is right for the suite, however, this makes it feel like I'm wearing a great looking, expensive pair of shoes - that are about a size too small.
