Description osavill 2003-09-15 17:08:40 UTC
Press and hold the mouse on the `Highlighting' toolbar button.
When the dialog appears select a colour, doesn't matter which one.

Select some text.
Press the `Highlighting' button.
Text becomes highlighted in the chosen colour.

How do I remove highlighting ?

Press and hold the mouse on the `Highlighting' toolbar button.
When the dialog appears select `No Fill'.

If the text was selected before doing this the highlight IS removed.

Select the hightlighted text to remove the highlight from.
Press the `Highlighting' button.
   The text remains highlighted !!!

This surely is incorrect behaviour ? Otherwise there is no elegant way to remove
highlighting.

you can use the "bucket" mode. Choose the highlight button with no
text selected and the cursor changes to a bucket. The text selected
with this tool will have no fill as background (or whatever was chosen
before).
(leave the mode with <escape> or by klicking the button again).

That approach, while a work around, is not really viable for a final
solution. It is too cumbersome for every day usage.

If this makes any difference:
- This also happens with 1.1.3 and 1.1.4rc
- The - quiet similar - text color button works as expected

This bug still exists in OpenOffice.org 2.0 (or at least, in OOo 1.9.129 as
included in Ubuntu 5.10)

I can also reproduce this behaviour in OOo 2.0.0final es_ES running Windows XP.
