Description Unknown 2003-09-16 02:20:33 UTC
My reason for submitting this report is that I am writing a paper and have
blocks of code mixed in. In the surrounding areas, I want to refer to specific
lines of code (ideally through a cross reference that would update if I added
other code).

When I saw the line numbering feature, I immediately thought I could use it
inside my text frames of source code. I recognize the class of documents that
the feature is present for, but hope that this feature will not be restricted to
just that.

When you talk about line numbering, do you refer to numbered lists as in >
Format > Paragraph > Numbering > Numbering, or is it > Format > Paragraph >
Numbering > Line Numbering?

For what you are describing you will need to use numbered lists. However it is
yet not possible to cross reference to items in numbered lists, which is being
requested in Issue 2204.

Could you please confirm whether Issue 2204, if fixed, would solve your problem?

A workaround would be to use an outline numbering at a very high level, say 9 or
10 (see > Tools > Outline...), which then would behave like a numbered list.
