Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19713
Information lost on import/export of RTF file
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
I have a simple test document in both .doc and .rtf format. There is a text box with shading that highlites part of the document. When Writer imports the .doc file it creates a frame with the same properties as the text box which gives the highlighted area. So far so good. If I save the document to .rtf in Word it creates a shape structure (\shp...) and can read it in. Writer seems to ignore the shape structure losing the highlighting on import. I imported the .doc file and have a frame. I then save as .rtf in Writer and there is no shape structure. It appears to have lost the frame information when exporting to .rtf. I have a zip file with the test documents showing the .doc file, the .rtf file created by Word and the .rtf file created by Writer. TextBoxTest.doc TextBoxTest.rtf - Created by Word TextBoxTextOO.rtf - Created by Writer. I can't seem to find a way to attach or upload the zip file. I can send it by email or post it somewhere.
Created attachment 9425 [details] Three documents illustrating the problem. TextBoxTest.doc, .rtf, and TestBoxTestOO.rtf
I can Reproduce the problem on OpenOffice 1.1 RC4(default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1. (And MS Office XP Sp2). It is real problem if I open textbox00 in OO there is text Text body;List;Caption;Index;Frame contents;WW-Default Paragraph Font; This is the header and the content is moved to second page. If I open this in Word XP, left frame is missing

Import/Export of drawing objects to RTF has to be implemented for this. See issue 14627. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 14627 ***
