Description norbert2 2003-09-24 21:03:27 UTC
If I export from any application (not only the word processor, did not know
which component to select for this issue) for example as PDF, the file-request-
window does not contain a default name. But if I change the directory to
anywhere, suddenly a default name equal to the document's name is set.
Comment 1 norbert2 2003-09-25 18:51:19 UTC
Seems to be fixed in RC5!
Comment 2 norbert2 2003-09-28 19:36:35 UTC
No it is NOT fixed!!! Sorry, the last comment is a mistake.
Comment 3 guido.pinkernell 2003-10-14 22:14:32 UTC
I can´t repeat this on with my OOo 1.1.0 on Win98.
Please give step by step directions to reproduce.
Comment 4 norbert2 2003-10-14 22:32:20 UTC
Currently I cannot reproduce it myselfe, although I remember such
situations. This is why I first thought it would be fixed, and than
I found it again. You close this issue. If can reproduce later it I
will re-open it.
Comment 5 norbert2 2003-10-14 22:33:51 UTC
I mean "you can close this issue", instead of "you close this
issue". Sorry.
Comment 6 norbert2 2003-10-14 22:55:43 UTC
Stop! Don't close this issue! :-)
Now I can reproduce it, but only with star-office samples. I have
attached one. Please open it and then try to export it as PDF. You
will see that there the filename is first empty, before changing the
directory.

Comment 8 guido.pinkernell 2003-10-14 23:13:12 UTC
Thanks, Norbert2. As you said, the filename only appears after
changing the directory. I will set it to NEW, with lowest priority.
Comment 9 mci 2003-10-15 14:08:02 UTC
Hi Norbert2,

thanks for using OpenOffice...

[I'm using Solaris here and can't see this...]

It seems you're using the Windows-System-dialogs...
Go to Tools -> Options -> General and make sure the Item
"Use Openoffice dialogs" (or so) is checked, then Office uses its own
dialogs which are able to do the desired behaviour...

Comment 10 mci 2003-10-15 14:10:28 UTC
I hope the last comment helps you...

If there's no new comment reporting this problem until 10/29/2003
we need to close the Issue...

set to worksforme...
Comment 11 guido.pinkernell 2003-10-15 14:25:53 UTC
Well, the strange thing is that the behaviour of the window system
dialogue in pdf export depends on whether the file originated in
Writer or Staroffice. At least that´s what the reporter indicated.

I can confirm the problem with his sample file. So it´s a matter of
putting the blame on Windows (then close) or try to work out a
solution within OOo (then reopen). It certainly doesn´t "workforme",
however unimportant the problem may appear.
Comment 12 mci 2003-10-15 15:08:12 UTC
Use the OpenOffice dialogs and it works...
     ==> worksforme...
Comment 13 norbert2 2003-10-15 21:48:51 UTC
Not, not "worksforme". pinkernell is right. The problems are not the
windows-dialogs, because they work correctly if the file was
produced by openoffice instead of staroffice.

@tm: Please have a look at this, we talked about it...
Comment 15 norbert2 2003-10-16 08:29:02 UTC
I want to note that this problem not only exists on the writer, it
exists on the other oOO apps, too, if trying to open such a sample
distributed with staroffice like the one I have attached here. But
it only exists with windows-dialog, not if the oOO-dialog is
selected!

Now I will also attach screenshots of the file-requester to show
what I mean.

TM->TRA: Please have a look. I can reproduce this problem, but MRU
can´t. We´re both using WinXP and the same office version. ?!?
Comment 18 tino.rachui 2003-10-20 10:26:26 UTC
Hi *,

I know how to reproduce the problem. A default export file name will
be set if the directory containing the file has another sub directory
and/or a file with the extension *.pdf else no default file name will
be set. Isn't that crazy?
Will have a look at it soon.

Kind Regards,
Tino
