Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20395
Grid width and height problem
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:38 UTC
I would like to use the grid in order to move a object on it.... However I would like it to move in the center of the spreadsheet cells behind it.... So I have put the grid width the same as the column width, and the grid height the same as line height.... The problem is that both the width and the height of the grid start the same size as the cells behind it, but as you go to the right(and down), you notice a tiny difference in the widths and heights of the two (grid-cell). At about cell EH, the grid has a half-cell difference with the cells behind it... For the height the half cell difference is at row 145...(At row 300 the grid and cell height become the same again).
Hi Niklas, it seems to be yours. Frank
This is caused by the way the cell sizes are rounded to whole pixels for display. We'll have to change this eventually, but it won't happen soon.

I also would like to use the grid positioned evenly over grid-shaped cells. Setting row heights & column widths to 0.250" and the grid to 0.250" still results in misalignment. I figure an extra row or column shows up for every 260 which means pixel rounding introduced ~0.4% size error. It seems the pixel rounding occurs once I click 'OK' in the row/col size dialog rather than as the pixels are displayed to the screen. How is the grid rounded to pixels for display and why are the results different? I don't care if the cells are actually 0.2501" apart - it's more about the grid and cells being aligned.
