We use postgreSQL because it has features we need that are not available in
mySql. It sure would be nice to have support for postgreSQL in OpenOffice. I
don't believe it would be too difficult since they both use SQL. I know that
phpBB supports several databases including postgreSQL,mySql, Oracle, and some
other. Most of the quries are identicle. Connecting and error reporting seem to
be the differing areas which are handled by switch statements in php by phpBB.

well, when using a ODBC driver, you can access PostgreSQL, so the *is*
support.

If you're asking for native access, then this is issue 17159. You may
want to try the native driver which is always available, though in an
alpha stadium.

How is this a duplicate of a bug, 17159, that refers to Open Office
address book integration?

This bug may indeed be a duplicate of some issue although I did a
search on postgre and the server responded that it was miss configured
before filing this enhancement request. I just did the search again
and did find quite a few references to postgreSQL but nothing related
directly to native support of postgreSQL.

I am pleased to see that a postgreSQL driver is in the works. I will
wait until is more than an alpha before using it though.

sorry, I typed the wrong number - obviously I worked on too many
issues in parallel this morning, the number was intended for another
issue :(
