The documentation states that printing of notes may be controlled by 
setting in Format, Page, Sheet (Print Notes checkbox).

However, notes are shown in print preview regardless of the checkbox 
settings. This checkbox appears not to have any effect. 

To hide notes in cells, one needs to deselect "Show note" in each cell 
containing a note. 

To reproduce:
Create a new spreadsheet
Insert, Note - insert some text in the note
Select File, Page Preview
Select Format, Page, Sheet, deselect checkbox Notes
Select File, Page Preview. 
Expected result is that notes should not show. In this build, on Win 
2000, they do.

The "Notes" setting in a page style enables or disables the printing
of extra pages with all the notes, shown and hidden.

Shown notes are always printed with their cells. I agree it might be
useful to have a separate option for these, but the existing setting
does what it's supposed to do, so this issue can be closed.

The behaviour is, as intended. We are not changing that for OO.o 2.0.
