Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20823
Make the footnote/endnote option persistent for the session.
Last modified: 2015-01-11 08:18:10 UTC
The Insert>Footnote dialog the Footnote / Endnote option selector is always set to footnote. However, each document generally has a preferred type and not many documents use both. When one is working on a document with endnote references, it is a pain to have to select endnote option for each reference insertion. I propose that the Footnote / Endnote Option be made persistent for the session. So that If I select endnote type, it will stay endnote type for each reference inserted.

I have tried OOo 2.4 and the situation is unchanged. I still think it is a good idea.
This issue still persists in OpenOffice 3.0. It really shouldn't be difficult to solve as other file-persistent data, such as print settings, can be saved. The current method for using endnotes is slow because for every endnote inserted one has to click on the type field of the Insert->Footnote dialog to change it away from footnote to endnote.
