Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21128
Implement multi selection of table cells (with Ctrl-click e.g.)
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
Including a ctrl-drag option to select non-contiguous blocks of text is an excellent idea, and works pretty well... but I am working in a text document with tables and let's say I select 5 sections of type, and am ready to select my 6th section of type, I am holding down ctrl while dragging, but if the mouse goes over the edge of a table, the whole selection set is undone. It is quite frustrating, especially when I am at the culmination of selecting all the elements I want to select. Let me know if this makes any sense, I'd be glad to elaborate if necessary.
It does make sense. At least I can confirm what you report with 1.1.0 on Win98. Set to New, P4, and slightly modified summary.
set target to OOoLater
Multi-Selection in tables will not supported in current. Type is cahnged from defect to enhancement.
Modified summary slightly. Made it more significant.

Reassigned to requirements.
Also, because only the text can be selected in multiple areas, the table properties can not be edited for multiple cells. To make a table where every second row has a shaded background, each row must have its properties edited manually.

My report was set as a duplicate so maybe I repeat it here: " Let's say you have table ccc ccc ccc c -- cell. When user switches to such mode, then she/he would just click on cells and it would be possible to select cell like this: #cc c#c c## " but as you can see I am referring to cells not to text itself. @Efaston, so quite contrary, I would like to change properties of the cells (like background color) as well. One note here though: it would be useful also either to have "smart" context switch
