In Word there it is no Problem to merge cells vertical side by side with
diffrent vertical beginnings and endings:
    ____
____|  |
|  ||  |    
|  |----
----

But in Openoffice there you always get the message that the table is too complex
to merge.

Example: If you write timetables in the Writer and you use Tables for this it is
nessasary to merge the tables in this way.
