Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 21234
Toolbar buttons does not enlarge automatically on UNIX
Last modified: 2005-03-29 16:21:58 UTC
In Gnome2.2 buttons on toolbars does not respect the LargePrint theme. When setting enlarge buttons to automatic toolbar buttons increase their size although no LargePrint theme was selected. This is a follow-up bug of #107372#. TZ: CP want this task only on target 6.y. I discussed it with RU and we agree. pl->lho: This bug depends on what one defines as 'respect the LargePrint' theme. The large print theme (as all other current gnome themes) sets large icons on toolbars; the difference with LargePrint theme is that it has its own icon set with bitmaps that are simply double the size, so the user actually sees larger pictures although the toolbar setting is still 'large' as with all other themes. Effectively the LargePrint theme presents ultra large buttons, but would do so also, if 'small' toolbar buttons were set on toolbars. By my book our current behaviour is correct, but perhaps you want to redefine the spec so that we react on the actual image size of a toolbar button. I'd not recommend that since we have currently no way to set ultra large buttons and it would change correct behaviour to false. please decide. LHO->CJ: Please look into this one.

Bug was migrated from iBIS.
In my opinion we should switch from small to large when the toolbar icons are larger than 24x24 pixel. Please compare with http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/1.0/icons.html
pl->cj: We should switch to large toolbar icons if we have large toolbar icons ? What ?
CJ -> RU: The only chance to get this issue fixed is in my understanding if we switch to native GTK. As we provide by default a non Gnome conform icon set, which can't be replaced on the fly by switching from one theme to another. The problem is not only to switch from small icon to large ones, it is also the fact that the icons look totally different. I see no chance to get this fixed.
Closing it as WONTFIX.
