Inputing from the keyboard more then two * or more then two - and pressing the 
return key, long lines are obtained.
This happens also in MS Word, but in OP it is almost impossible to cancel the
lines if not necessary any more.

My error?

The release of OP is 1.1 and not 1.0

Your error but only because you don't know how the borders work :-)
The line is a paragraph-border.
