Description bbigby 2003-11-01 04:19:44 UTC
The Style List should appear as a tree -- not a flat list. A tree is a much
better visual representation of the link/inheritance relationship between
various styles.

the stylist or the catalog offer a hierachical view of the styles. Is
that the kind of tree you're looking for?
If yes, please close this issue as worksforme, if not, please give
more details.

I'm running OpenOffice 1.0.3 under XD2. If you click Format/Style List
or press F11, the Style List appears but it is a flat list -- for example,

Addressee
Bibliography 1
Bibliography Heading
Caption
Complimentary close
Comments 1
Contents 10
...
etc.

If several styles have links, I could imagine the following:

Style 1
  Style 2
  Style 3
Style 4
Style 5
Style 6
  Style 7
  Style 8
    Style 9
Style 10

For example, the "Heading" style links to "Default". I presume that
this means that the style, "Heading", inherits the properties of
"Default". Instead displaying the styles in the following manner,

Default
Heading

Open Office should display the styles in the following manner:

Default
  Heading

I hope that his helps clarify what I'm stating.

That's exactly what the hierachical view provides. -> worksforme.

As i add some difficulties to find it :

This hierarchical view is accessible in the dropdown list of styles categories
At the end, there is a Hierarchy option

This layout should be the default presentation of the stylist though

Hi again,

in poorder to help beginners to understand style dependancies, this treeview
presentation should be the default one on installing

Actually, it is "automatic" ...

So i re-open this issue

Thanks

Laurent

This issue could be resolved if an older issue were adopted; namely, the
suggestiont to preserve the prior setting for styles ("Automatic", "Custom",
"All" or whatever). "Hierarchical" is not one I use very often, but if I set it
for a document, that is what I want to see whenever I open the document.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
