Description osavill 2003-11-11 10:42:54 UTC
`Data Sources' should really be available from the initial empty OOo screen.
Currently you have to create a new document, or load a document, before the
`Data Sources' button or the View --> Data Sources menu become available.
Comment 1 osavill 2003-11-11 10:47:39 UTC
Presumably this would be for admin of the data, for example adding
entries to a mailshot list. If the Data Sources appear, as at present,
in the upper half of the screen then it should also be possible to
load a document, for example your labels template, into the `gray'
area below the Data Sources rather than in a new screen.

TM->BH: I changed this from defect to enhancement, due to the fact
that there is nothing broken and this is a wish for a change in our
behaviour. So please be so kind and have a look.

Given that on start up OOo 1.9 has a minimalist toolbar and that the View Data
Sources tool button is not in it please could this issue be re-visited. Why
should it be necassary to open a blank document just to view / amend the data
sources ?

Thanks.

It makes even more sense to be able to open the Data Source browser from the
minimal startup window given the much enhanced data base functionality in OOo
1.9 / 2.0.
