Description Unknown 2003-11-24 18:49:50 UTC
When attempting to send a document to another user, using /usr/bin/Mozilla
(Mozilla 1.4.1), the send screen from Mozilla comes up, but no document is
attached.

Hi mhtemple,

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice...

I tried this on Solaris using OOo1.1.0 and all went fine...
I attached my sample file (File-> Send-> Document as E-mail) and I
attched it as *.pdf-file(File -> Send-> Document as PDF Attachement)...

Both went fine...
Set to worksforme...

How did you see the document is not attached ?
Did you get the Mail without Document?
Didn't you see the document while creating the mail?

This is a bug in the shell script used to start Mozilla on some systems. The
script does not handle the "attachment='file:...'" argument unless there is no
browser instance already running. On my systems, the script (installed with the
mozilla RPMs) is /usr/bin/mozilla.

You can work around this by either a) exiting Mozilla before trying to send your
document or b) changing your OOo config to run the browser binary directly
instead of through the shell script (but this also requires a 'fresh' browser
instance).

I have written a replacement script (in Perl) which works properly with OOo (for
me). If you are interested in testing it, please let me know: jes(at)martnet.com
