Description petrbalas 2004-01-13 18:32:47 UTC
Set some tabelator explicitly. Now use some tabelators - tabstop is explicit
first and after this you will use some implicit tabstops. Those implicit
tabstops are computed diferently - as N * TabSize from start of line in one case
and as N * TabSize from last explicit tabelator in another.

Reassigned to MRU
Comment 3 petrbalas 2004-01-15 07:55:49 UTC
It seems that tabstops are computed from left margin of page and left margin of
current line.
Comment 4 michael.ruess 2004-01-15 09:34:25 UTC
MRU->AMA: Writer calculates the default tabs differently from MS Word when
having a paragraph with left indent. See paragraphs from "E.2." on downwards.
Word still takes the left page border as reference, Writer takes the left indent
as reference point for calculating the default tabs.
This makes the import look a bit messed up in this case. Writer needs a
compatibility mode for this.
Comment 5 jeanmi 2004-06-10 13:59:18 UTC
I think it is a very annoying behavior, it should be possible to set a switch on
each tabulation who would say :

Relative to page
Relative to indent of paragraph

as it is possible to do for image positionning and so on...

and when importing from Word, setting that to relative to page
Comment 6 michael.ruess 2005-07-29 10:58:50 UTC
Added some internal flags.
Comment 7 andreas.martens 2005-08-18 12:43:38 UTC
Considering the effort, the priority, the risk and our resource planning I've to
retarget this issue to OOo Later.
Comment 8 andreas.martens 2005-08-31 11:29:04 UTC
We need a compatibility flag for this. We should consider the problem for OOo
2.0.2. For OOo2.0.1 we don't plan such UI change. For OOo2.0.2 we'll discuss
this problem again.
=> Retarget to OOo2.0.2
Comment 9 frank.meies 2006-01-09 09:51:39 UTC
FME: Changed target.
Comment 10 mdxonefour 2006-03-23 09:53:07 UTC
MD: As discussed with development, these changes will require a lot of QA
ressources to verify the success of the changes we plan. Since the time frame
for 2.0.3 release is very thight and ressources are limited, I re-target this
issue to 2.0.4.

Modified patch - relative indents depend on separate compatibility option
Comment 15 Oliver Specht 2007-11-29 14:38:26 UTC
Integrated in cws xmlfilter02
Comment 16 daniel.rentz 2008-04-21 08:13:49 UTC
DR->MRU: fix already integrated with cws xmlfilter02, please verify on current
Comment 17 michael.ruess 2008-05-06 14:06:21 UTC
Huh? Something that "will require a lot of QA ressources to verify the success
of the changes" integrated as a side effect? Also I read "relative indents
depend on separate compatibility option" - a new flag in the compatibility UI?
This must have its own CWS at least - maybe even an own spec...
Comment 18 michael.ruess 2008-05-06 14:06:52 UTC
Reopened issue.
Comment 19 Oliver Specht 2008-05-07 15:00:52 UTC
->mru: The compatibility flag is not visible in the UI. It's only set on Word
import (old and new one).
I don't know how this issue made it's way into the product without beeing seen
by QA but now it's in the master and it has to be verified that it doesn't break

BTW: It is planned to switch on this compatibility setting by default in one of
the next versions as the Writer's way of calculating tab stops in indented
paragraphs doesn't make a lot sense (if any at all)

Comment 20 eric.savary 2008-06-16 20:31:46 UTC
Retargetting to 3.1 due to MRU'S vacation.

Could see this issue being fixed/implemented in OO 3.0.
Comment 23 michael.ruess 2008-10-17 12:58:15 UTC
Closed, issue is already integrated in OO 3.0.
