Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 24811
Use of DSUM formula with a Calc database (cells in a spreadsheet) results in erroneously reporting Err504:Error in parameter list.
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:15:02 UTC
I started populating calc database with information. Then I created a database field area and set a search criteria to be used in DSUM. DSUM worked jsut fine, but after I addded more rows to the database (without changing the DSUM formula), OpenOffice reported an Err504 message! I exported the file to Excel format and used it on a Windows XP machine and it worked fine. It seems to me that there is a problem with DSUM or with the way Calc references other cells.
Hi, this is not a valid bugreport. You're just describing what happened but not how to reproduce it. So please attach a document that shows your problem and describe step by step what leads to it. Otherwise I have to close this as Invalid. Also OOo1.0.1 is a quite old version. I recommend to update to OOo1.1. Frank

Frank, I got to reproduce the problem. I sent you an attachment with the spreadsheet file. In the only tab in the spreadsheet you can see that on Cell c58 there is a DSUM formula referring to the "database" above (january name) and the seach creteria in rows 55 and 56. This cell should be reporting "Err:504". To "remove" the problem, copy the heading (of the database) located A4:G4 onto A55:G55 which is the heading for the search criteria. Tha should be resolve the problem. The cell C58 should now display $126.58. I want it to tell you that the original spreadsheet without any changes works just fine in MS Excel. Also, you can undo the changes described above and verify that the heading in row 4 and 55 are identical! Another thing: I installed OpenOffice 1.1 and did the above test using that version. I guess is the same for version 1.01. Finally, I want to tell you that when you split the screen by dragging the bar on the top of the project and you click on a cell on the bottom part, the cell does not get selected for edition. Any clue? Thanks!
Hi Niklas, I couldn't find any differences in the strings (A4:G4 and A55:G55) please have a look at this. Frank
B55 contains text "Type", leading to an invalid query.
