Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 25002
Formatting not applied with auto spellcheck on certain file types
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:19 UTC
Using spreadsheet in OpenOffice 1.1.0 under Win XP, with auto spellcheck on and when the document is saved as MS excel or starcalc formats AND opened from file (as opposed to creating and saving without closing OpenOffice). no trouble when saved as .sxc file or when file unsaved An attempt to format a cell containing text with a spelling mistake (no trouble when only some text in a cell is selected) using [i], [B] or font-size toolbar buttons or Format|Cells...|Font gives the following situation: The formatting does not appear on the selected cell, although toolbar appears as though it has (e.g. font size changes in box on toolbar, but actual text remains same size). If the misspelt word is right-clicked and a correct spelling is chosen or Ignore All is clicked, the toolbar display returns to the original settings.
Hi, could you please describe step by step what you're doing. I was not able to reproduce your problem using your current description. Frank
Step-by-step to get problem: Start OOo Spreadsheet Ensure Tools|Spellcheck|Auto spellcheck is selected Type "This is a spolling mistake<Enter>" (will appear in cell A1) File|Save as... Choose Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP (.xls;.xlw) in Save as type Click Save File|Close In message box "Saving in external formats may cause information loss..." click Yes File|1 (Opening last file) Click on cell A1 (selecting cell, not the text in the cell) Click [B] on toolbar (or [i] or other formatting) Text in cell A1 does not appear bold.
