Description Regina Henschel 2004-02-09 19:50:56 UTC
A widespread error of my pupils is to put an automatic TOC just at the beginning
of the document and later on notice, that they need an additional page oder
space before it for the titel of their work. But there is no simple way to do it.

Up to now there are only workarounds like deleting the TOC with loss of all its
formating or copying the whole document into itself, which is impossible for
beginners.

I suggest to add, that using <alt>+<enter> will insert a new line before the TOC
like it does before tables or sections, so that you can put something before it.

Please take a look at this issue. It is in fact almost impossible to insert a
new page, line, anything before an index as described in this issue. One
things is when it is difficult to achive something in OOo, but when it is
impossible, then you should prioritize a little!

The TOC must be write enabled (first tabpoage of the index dialog: "Protected
against manual changes")

I have now learned from you, that I must unprotect the TOC. But this does not
solve this request for an enhancement. Please compare:
Now you have to do
1. unprotect the TOC
2. use alt-enter (Notice, you are still inside the TOC!)
3. use alt-enter again
4. go back into the TOC
5. delete the extra line
6. protect the TOC
I want, that the handling is the same as for tables or sections:
use alt-enter at the left upper corner of the TOC
In WORD97 a simple return is enough to get a line before the TOC.

Agree with Regina, the behaviour is not natural at all. Would be nice to
simplify this.

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
