Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
1) i have ms word .doc file, which contains piece of simple vector graphics (a logo). 2) when openoffice (1.1.0) opens/imports .doc file then it displays crippled graphics. 3) when exporting it as pdf and later viewing it with gv (3.5.8) it is even more crippled. see the url provided above to * see graphics samples as they get rotten * get source (.doc) and destination (.pdf) files thanks for paying attention :)
reassigend to mru can you please take a look on this issue? set target to OOo later
MRU->SJ: looks like graphic import from MS format. The inner Red/White area looks kind of checkered after import.
Created attachment 13067 [details] Doc from URL as attachment now
re-targeted to "OO later".
SJ->THB: Can you please takeover this issue, seems to be a little metafile problem, thanks,.
I was able to replicate the bug with Open Office 1.1 on a Linux OS and with Open Office 1.4 on a Windows XP OS. I did some follow-up tests with a variety of JPEG and PNG images. It appears that in most cases the quality of an image in an MS Word file is not compromised when the file is opened with Open Office. It also appears that the bug is not specific to the image provided by ragnarkum, as I came across other images where the quality was compromised. Attached is a sample image which can be used to replicate the bug. The image is blurred when a MS Word document containing it is opened with Open Office. The quality is further compromised when the document is exported as PDF from Open Office. On testing how this bug effects printing I found that in all the cases when the image quality is compromised on opening the Word document with Open Office, the printing of the file opened in Open Office is also effected. Saving the file as an Open Office type and then printing does not seem to help.
Created attachment 22215 [details] Word doc that can be used to reproduce the bug
I can also reproduce this defect under WinXP version 5.1 build 2600 which has MS Word 2002 and OOo 1.1.4 installed. The inner red/white area of the imported graphic object in OOo 1.1.4 is very different than that in MS Word version.
@sj: please take this one back again.
