Description richardneill 2004-03-05 02:07:59 UTC
I have 2 monitors and use Xinerama. When I use the slide show, the presentation
is helpfully shown centred across the break between 2 monitors!
(I see an 800x1200 black bar on the left; then a 1600x1200 presentation, broken
in half; then an 800x1200 black bar on the right). This would be especially
nasty if the monitors were of different size or resolution.

Perhaps Ooo should only show on one monitor, or at least give the option.
I'd suggest that if xinerama is detected, Ooo should offer to:

a)Display fullscreen on one monitor (which one?) and blank the other(s)
       b)Display fullscreen on one monitor
       c)Display fullscreen centred across monitors.
a) should be the default.

Lastly, thanks for Ooo - it's great!

This does not happen for me.

I use Xinerama on my laptop, with either a monitor or projector as a second
monitor. Typically the main screen is running at 1400x1050 and the external
monitor at 1280x1024. When I start openoffice, and move it to the second
screen, then start a presentation, the presentation always appears on the first
screen, when really it would be much more useful on the second screen.

I agree that Xinerama support should be considered, but I don't observe what
the OP observes, and think the default should not be to blank other monitors.

Re deathtobill's comment, I'm suggesting that Ooo should probably pop up a
dialog box asking what we want to do.

As for Xinerama, there may be a difference between the "regular" way of doing
Xinerama (2 different X $DISPLAYs), and Nvidia's "Twinview" (which is what I
have; it creates a single X $DISPLAY, but the window manager is still aware
somehow of where the borders lie.) This is just a guess; I'm not a Xinerama expert!
