Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 26389
Pressing the Esc key does not cancel the preview mode
Last modified: 2006-07-29 15:42:27 UTC
THE CANCEL OR A PREVIEW TOOLBAR [AUTOMATICALLY OPENING UP] SHOULD BE PROVIDED TO GET BACK TO NORMAL MODE. THAT WOULD MAKE THINGS EASY.
Hello aparan, thank you for using and supporting OpenOffice.Org! first, please do not write your complete texts in capitalized letters. this makes it just more difficult for other persons to read your issues and besides this it is interpreted as "Shouting". second, please follow the Issuezilla-reporting guidelines whenever possible. You can find them here: http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/bug_writing_guidelines.html In particular, please try to give a detailed explanation, if possible a step by step description. And please also query the Issuezilla-database before submitting a new issue to avoid submitting Duplicates. Best regards, Max Weber

Have you switched on "View - Toolbars - Object Bar"? There should be a button "Close Preview".
Hi Max and All friends, I would like to say sorry for all that 'SHOUTING'. A bit of naiveity with all this was the reason. Thanks to all you friends for your responses. I would hold on to your advices in future while reporting bugs. As for this bug I would like to have the Esc Key to cancel the preview mode and go back to Normal View. Further, the Page Preview can be shifted to View Menu. Why stick to the old conventions. Once again thanks, and awaiting your responses.
SBA: I confirm this enhancement issue. About reginas comment: The preview bar can NOT be switched off/on via View -toolbars. So the button "close preview" is always visible. But it is a fact that pressing <Esc> is more intuitive and also faster for users who don't clutch to the mouse all the time. Note: MS Word closes the preview when <Esc> is pressed. Reassigned to Bettina.
The feature is quite common and easy-working. Shall we have this in OO.o 2.0?
Issue 11356 seems to be duplicate to this one (<ESC> exiting preview mode)
Found that it works with OOodev-m178. Windows. Hwoarang
Fixed.
