Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 26509
print to pdf and Fields showing
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
When using the export to PDF feature in OpenOffice.org 1.1.0 on Debian GNU/Linux, with special Fields in use... the PDF output is not what the printed output would be. The PDF export displays the text of the Fields (page number, number of pages/statistics) as displayed on the screen (ctrl+f9) whether that be the Field names or values. Feature, or a bug... I considered it a bug when my PDF resume printed out with "Page numbers of Statistics" at the bottom of every page instead of "1 of 4", simply because I had the Fields shown (ctrl+f9) from the View menu. I was just glad that by changing the selection of that, the export to PDF gives me the document I wanted.
pl->ama: The poster did not state what application did that, i guess it's writer by default.

Created attachment 13954 [details] oowrite doc with Fields "PageNumbers" and "Statistics" in use, print to PDF issues
Hello Brian, thank you for using and supporting OpenOffice.Org! 1) behaviour confirmed with 1.1.1rc3 Win98 SE 2) changing issue type from defect to enhancement ------------------- Summmary: When having [View -> Fields] checked, Writer should prompt user also when exporting to PDF, if he wants to have the field-names or their values printed like it does for normal printing.
We're planning to impove the PFD export for OOo2.0, so this issue could be solved but I set the priority to 4.
No time for this kind of issue for OO 2.0 -> OO later
