Description mydatex 2004-03-30 11:10:08 UTC
I have tested new OO 1.1.1RC5 on my old pc (P75/64Mb) that I use as X-terminal.
I use it with mozilla and OO 1.1.0 without problems. I want to upgrade to 1.1.1
and I test RC version before upgrade. I found large slowdown in OO gui. I serach
over the internet and found some about xkb problem. But my problem is different.
In xkb problem only menus are slow. But I have slow whole gui, openning widows eg.
I try chanege video card S3 to ATI no success. Xfree from 3.3.6-4.3 nothing helps.
I am running Debian Woody, with remote fonserver. But 1.1.0 is OK only
1.1.1RC1-5 is slow. Thanks Dan Smolik

I do some testing and I have found a solution. Main problem is using in menu
TrueType font. If I use bitmap font, all works fine. I don't know why.

I forget that if we really ever have OOo 1.1.1RC5, I only remember we only
have until rc3.
Please correct the version and add more info.
and is this happend to all TrueType font or all ? and do you have that font
installed on your old computer or not (is that sure that situations between
testing Ooo 1.1 and 1.1.1 is same ?)

if your report is correct it is regression.

I use RC5 from czech build. It uses TrueType fonts Lucida.
Problem is with all TrueType fonts. As I wrote I use remote fonsterver xfs and
xfs-xtt.

Wasn't that some kind of memory leak in the RC of the 1.1.1 version? I seem to
remember that I have read it somewhere ... Maybe in an other issue or in the
archives?
But because of the last entry of this issue was at the end of May, could this
issue be closed now? It could be reopened, if the reporter has the same issue
with a newer version of OOo.

I have not seen any answer to my comment since October 24th. Could this issue be closed by the
original reporter then? He could reopen it if necessary ... ;)
Comment 7 mydatex 2004-12-05 17:58:01 UTC
Sorry, I solve this problem for my usage changing TrueType fons to bitmap and
don't try any other solution. I now use 1.1.2 czech bulid and problem still exists.
Comment 8 thackert 2004-12-12 11:37:23 UTC
Have you tried it also with OOo-1.1.3 or 1.9.x? Does the problem occur there also?
Comment 9 mydatex 2004-12-12 20:30:24 UTC
Today I instaled Debian Sarge and OO-1.1.3 czech and problem is solved. On my
woody I cannot install OO-1.1.3 because it is linked against new glibc.

Dan, any objections to close this one?
Comment 11 mydatex 2004-12-13 20:12:38 UTC
Yes bug was not in OO but in combination of woody and OO is it good explanation ?
And upgrading to Sarge solve this problem
Comment 12 thackert 2004-12-25 14:43:59 UTC
But I have heard that Debian has its own implementation of OOo and also their own IZ-like bugtracking
system. So I think it should be reported as well as fixed on their side, and not on OOo's side, or am I
wrong?
Comment 13 mydatex 2004-12-25 17:59:55 UTC
Yes you are right. But my OO is not installed from debian package. For woody is
only officially availalable 1.0. It is only my problem. Thanks.
Dan
Comment 14 thackert 2004-12-26 10:16:14 UTC
But I have read somewhere that the 1.1RC builds were really unstable with a lot of bugs ... :( If you cannot
install a newer version of OOo because of the old glibc version, I think that this is not only an OOo
problem but also a Debian problem. And it seems to be solved in newer versions of Debian, so I think it
could get closed ... ;)
Comment 15 mydatex 2004-12-26 16:44:43 UTC
Yes it is OK. Close this bug please.
Comment 16 ulf.stroehler 2005-01-03 07:24:35 UTC
Ok, will do so.
Thanks to everybody involved with this issue for contributing to OO.o.
Comment 17 ulf.stroehler 2005-01-03 07:25:03 UTC
