Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 27153
Make number of level in outline numbering user defined
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:21 UTC
I'm actually writting a document who recquire 12 levels of outlines. OOo has a hard coded value of 10 levels for outlines numbering. It would be nice if users can change this value by GUI.

If I had votes left, I'd vote for this. A workaround for having more than one kind of chapter numbering and "outline levels" (which are not really outline levels at all) is to have a set for some page styles and another set for other page styles. This worked just fine when I had one set of page styles that could use levels 1-4 and another set that used levels 6-10, but, I, too find myself hoisted on this petard. I have a document that needs eight levels for one set of styles and another set that needs five levels -- 13 in all, but only 10 are available. The trick to get around it is to have two MD's with a blank page at the beginning of the first with a Manual Page break starting at a page number which I will have to change when I get done with the first part. Printing the two MD's will give me a hard copy, but there is no way to produce my publishers' required MS Word 2000 output in a single copy. I've got a request for a two-part output which, if he agrees, I will submit.
I want to create documents like www.smbg.de >BG-Datenbank (right down) >Suchen: Schrift: BGR121 (example) >BGR 121 Arbeitsplatzlüftung ... >[more over hyperlinks in content] To change the levels up or down in large parts (100 pages) of a document like this over the navigator, its necessary to include all kinds of paragraph (heading and text) in the outline numbering. But it want to show only the headlines in TOC and in navigator, not the text. It would nice, when a checkbox is in the dialog for outline numbering, that make a outline as a headline and only this headlines are showing in TOC and in navigator under headlines. But by click on the buttons level higher and level lower (in german: Ebene hoch and Ebene senken) want to change all levels of outlines, not only the headlines. An example: _wheel_ Text to wheel _hub_ Text to hub _example_ Text to example more Text to hub _spoke_ Text to Spoke this want to change to: _motorbike_ _wheele_ ... _bicicle_ _wheel_ ...
