Description maxqnz 2004-04-09 01:23:58 UTC
Currently, Writer is very limited in the number of functions it offers in tables.
There is no "COUNT" for example, and a total of barely a dozen functions. Adding
more basic funtions would increase the flexibility of Writer tables. Currently
the "MEAN" function treats blank cells as having a zero entered, whereas the
"AVERAGE" function in Calc correctly ignores blank cells or alpha data. A
similar function would be an asset in Writer.

I want a split screen & the ability to hide rows 'n columns.
Comment 4 katherinekatz 2006-11-14 04:25:29 UTC
I also need a fill function in writer tables--so I can fill a series of
numbers (1,2,3,4) down a column in a table in writer. Thankyou

It is sad to see this still in limbo after all these years. I first posted this
enhancement request in 1.1RC1 and now I'm running 310m4 and nothing's changed.
Disappointing.

Basic string handling function are also direly needed. There does not even seem
to be a way to simply refer to the string included in another cell of the table...

As I said in Issue 107849 it would truly be an Integrated suite if all the
formulae and functions were available in WP tables and Presentations. Perhaps
the first truly integrated suite since Ashton-Tate's Framework?
Comment 9 igx31 2009-12-31 17:04:58 UTC
Well, as stated in the summary, the subject is not /all/ functions, but /more/
functions. There are really too few, and many others would be trivial to
implement. My request for text functions may be tricky (since it requires
carrying the cell type along with the value), but I'm sure the COUNT function
asked by "maxqnz" would be easy, since it is surely computed internally for the
existing MEAN function...
