Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 28538
Window freeze cause cell highlighting to malfunction (disappear)
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:11:09 UTC
Firstly, this is definitely not the same issue as 7954. It might be the same as issue 8098 though? Not 100% sure. Secondly, here are some steps to recreate: To recreate, open the attached file and follow these steps: 1 - Highlight cell B2 in Sheet1 2 - Window-Freeze 3 - Go to Sheet2 4 - In cell A1 start typing =SUM( 5 - Without finishing the formula (i.e. cursor still active in cell/formula bar) go back to Sheet1 and select cell A2, then drag to the right (I'm using the mouse here, but arrows seems to result in same behaviour) so that the formula becomes =SUM(Sheet1.A2:D2 6 - Now finish the formula by typing the closing bracket ) and pressing enter. 7 - If you now go back to Sheet1 and try to select any cell that isn't in the column A (i.e. the column that has remained fixed throughout) the cell highlighting will not work. Removing the freeze resolves the issue but if you apply it again the issue comes back. To make it go away the user must save, close and open. Also refer to this post (http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=31079) on oooforum.org for details. Can anyone confirm? Or if this anyone involved in issue 8098 thinks this is exactly the same issue, re-open that and mark this as duplicate.

Anton: I was able to reproduce the bug herein with the steps you have shown. My tests today were performed on OOo version 1.1.0 running on RH9 linux. My results were slightly different than the ones reported for that sequence of steps. Cells A2 and beyond in column A did highlight for me, but the others outside of column A did not, when freeze at B2 was enabled. Yet the entire row 1 cells did not highlight, including cell A1. I'm not sure if this is the same issue as was originally reported in Issue 8098, or not. I do think this describes what I saw and recorded in that issue, because I had just finished linking sheets when I saw it. Your observations further support what I saw, because all symptoms "disappeared" for me when I came back, after a save, close and reopen of the file.
Hi Niklas, I think it's your construction site. Frank
