There was used for some menu titles names of processes "Taisa"("Editing" = "Edit"), "Įterpimas"("Inserting" = "Insert"), "Formatavimas" ("Formating" = "Format") and some - name of objects "Rodinys"("object shown by program" = "View") I propose to change "Rodinys". Reasons: 1. Before it was no such word "Rodinys", this is artificial word. 2. Other menu titles means process (in Lithuanian), and this (no reason why) means processing object.
Lots of responses from users about why word "Rodinys" isn't understandable by majority of Lithuanian users and which word is better to use instead of "Rodinys" are there: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=169095 Mozilla is translated by the same team of translators as OpenOffice.org and word "View" is translated as "Rodinys" only in their translated products, in all other free software translations "View" is translated as "Rodyti", "Vaizdas" or "Rodymas" (for example lots of GNOME, KDE and other applications, look at http://l10n-status.gnome.org/gnome-2.6/lt/ or http://i18n.kde.org/stats/gui/HEAD/lt/). I think it's wrong, when translated product isn't understandable by the majority of simple users, so please translate "View" as in other free software products or give an another, more understandable suggestion. I agree, that „Rodinys“ is not ok. Such issues arise, because in other languages unlike in English, verb and noun is not the same word. „View“ is both noun, and verb. I think „View“ in OO was put as a verb, not noun, consequently translation is not accurate.

I agree with all of the above and I want to add yet another term which was changed in a new version in a non-compatible way with a previous versions of OOo. The menu "Byla" was changed into "Rinkmena" - the term which is considered as a non usable one by GNOME and KDE translation teams. It is a new artifical term and it was never used in the past, we've been using "Byla" since old-school MS-DOS times, as far as I remember, and there's no need at all to confuse OOo users. In all the books released about the OOo the term for a "file" menu is known as "Byla" not as "Rinkmena", including text and screenshots. So far I can see only cons of using these terms. And I'm against at least making such changes in minor versions of OOo. Please consider to revert the changes made in the last version.
Is this already fixed or not? Can we close it?
This bug isn't fixed in latest stable OOo version (1.1.5 RC4, downloaded from pavel janik repozitory - ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org ) :(, so you can't close this bug.
Actually, this isn't a bug, just different opinions and different understanding of native language (strange how this happens). "Rodinys" will remain in OOo1.1.5, but will be changed to "Rodymas" starting OOo2.0. BTW, "rodinys" is NOT a new artificial word ;)
