Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 29690
table cell backgrounds and shadings not completely preserved during conversion to / from M$ Word
Last modified: 2013-02-07 22:38:33 UTC
e.g., try the 'subtle 2' table style in Word to a table and see how it does not convert properly...
Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test it/faster to confirm. (Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily/need more time) Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is small, but we still able to see the problem.

OO does not support pattern shadings. This is not only a Writer problem, thus I set component to framework.
Its true that open office doesn't support pattern shading. This problem is in both OOCalc or OOWriter. It doesn't work in conversion from MSOffice to OOo or vice versa.
