Description oliinman 2004-06-06 03:14:19 UTC
Allow export to a database of the bibliography; I imagine it is just XML format
anyway, so this should not be a problem and allows for me to enter my databases
into a database once the paper is written.

Please detail a little bit what you mean.
The Bibliography table is generated from a database, so that you can find the
entries from the document in the bibliography database.

Thank you for your comments, the development of import and exports filters is
a priority for the bibliographic project. see
http://bibliographic.openoffice.org/

The are two options available for export the bibliographic database.
You can open the database in a spreadsheet and save it in the formats
available there.

There is also a a sample program that reads the bibliographic database and
outputs it in text. It can be found at
http://udk.openoffice.org/python/python-bridge.html. Although you may have to
do a bit of programming to get the output you want.

There is also http://www.hj-gym.dk/~hj/writer2latex/ which will output all the
bibliographic references in a document in bibtex format.

You have two options when creating a bibliography; one is using the bibliography
database, one is using those entries embedded into the text. (the from document
content item)...

Although I prefer to use the database, I only want to send one file around, so I
am required to keep the references in the document. Unfortunately, the
citations I have are rather numerous (and growing), so I would like to be able
to export them to a database from within the document.

Why not...

Description: allow the export of embedded biblio fields to a bibliography
database.
Comment 5 dnwilson 2004-06-22 02:00:01 UTC
This is one of the enhancements on the list requirements list for the bibliographic
project. Providing a function that does export of embedded biblio fields to a
bibliography database is exactly what is required.

I should have mentioned this. But as all bibliographic improvements are scheduled for
'OOo 2 later' I was trying help the user with a work around for his problem.

Perhaps this request should be made duplicate 4260

I hope Issue 24813 is realized soon.
No effort, just do the patch of including 3 files.
It includes the BIBTEX bibliography export. I tested the recent version, works
fine for me.

This Issue requires more information ('needmoreinfo'), but has not been updated
within the last year. Please re-test with one of the latest versions of OOo -
the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable
version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing):
http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/

Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be closed or progressed as
necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also

advanced further :
