Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 30239
Web Wizard: want to delete files at finish; messagebox isn't very informative
Last modified: 2013-07-30 02:35:50 UTC
When you 'finish' the web wizard (file/autopilot/web wizard) you get sometimes a message that the local directory isn't empty and if you want to delete the files. Nobody knows, that this message only comes up, when the web wizard rans once in that selected directory. The message must be more clear.
Elisabeth: Currently the message is: The local target directory is not empty. Do you want to delete the content? In German: Das lokale Verzeichnis ist nicht leer. Möchten Sie den Inhalt löschen?"; Mein Vorschlag wäre: The local target directory '<DIRNAME>' is not empty. Do you want to delete the content? Das lokale Verzeichnis '<DIENAME>' ist nicht leer. Möchten Sie den Inhalt löschen?
Reassign to Elizabeth.
Liz->BC: To solve this issue, change the string as Ron suggests above.
Hi :-) This is not as simple as it seems. Some background: The files generated by the web wizard are not predictable. They depend on: layout, export and so on. for example, if one exports a presentation to html you have no way to say which files will be written to the disk. In the iTeam we made therefore the following decision: The web wizard checks the chosen directory. If it is not empty, it warns the user that some of the files might be overwritten. One can not issue a message like "the file index.html will be overwritten, continue?" for each file, because each layout and each exporter writes other files to the disk. there is no way to know. Therefore we agreed on a formation of: "Some of the files will be overwritten", or something alike... If you notice - this bug was issued *before* the second iTeam meeting, which tookplace in August, as far as I remember. My Proposition above is therefore not accurate. The content will not be deleted - some files might be... Cheers, Ron
