Description aparan 2004-07-17 08:31:37 UTC
1 Hide all toolbars from any OO.o application

2 Now, if the user want to show any of the toolbar, he could go to

View > Toolbars > ~List~ and select any one from it.

But when all toolbars were closed by the user, the toolbars menu is unavilable.

It is impossible to show any toolbar again. Even in the normal case this menu
item is unavailable.

Further, the menubar has no context menu. I have earlier filed an issue for
this. Now as the new toolbar spec being implemented, it has to have a context
menu with a list of ~ Toolbar names~ followed by ~Customize; which would open
the toolbar customise dialog.

the first part has been resolved as per i31362.

But second part is still unanswered.

The context menu for the menu bar will be an easier option as regards view/hide
of toolbars.

Please change the summary, Anyway i'm reopening the issue

Hi aparan,

please submit only one problem per issue!

I looked at the summary end recognized this issue as an duplicate and didn't
look into your comments...

BTW why should a menubar have a context menu???
I've never seen this before...
Comment 6 mci 2004-07-22 14:00:14 UTC
I changed the Summary from
"Toolbars - hidden toolbars could not be shown again"
to
"provide a context menu in empty space of the menubar to show/hide toolbars like
MSOffice does"

aparan mailed to me the following motivation:
"Hi

This feature is already there in all MSOffice apps and also in the Mozilla
Firefox. You can right
click the empty space in the menubar and show/hide toolbars and also invoke the
customise dialog
from this popup menu. It is the easiest way to do this for people who prefer a
clean workspace
and toolbars only when they need them and hide them other wise. Please take a
re-look at this. "

reassigned to cj

mci->cj: Hi cj, please have a look at this and decide if we want to have this
"feature", too...

Since the View>Toolbars option is now implemented in the latest developer
builds, doesn't this satisfy the need for a way of showing/hiding toolbars from
the menu bar?

Also, Tools>Customise can easily be accessed from the menubar, so I can't see
why anyone would need a context menu on the menubar which has the sole purpose
of duplicating commands already available within the menu structure.
Comment 8 aparan 2004-09-22 09:28:45 UTC
Thinking from the ease of use view point I would ask for this enhancement
Comment 9 aparan 2005-02-09 09:57:24 UTC
So long, nothing heard :)
Comment 10 Olaf Felka 2005-02-09 10:10:55 UTC
@ aparan: Please don't change the version setting. We want to know when this
issue has been found. If nobody has fixed it it's logical that it will also
happen in the current version.

Shouldn't OOo "provide a context menu anywhere on the toolbar and menubar to
show/hide toolbars"? This is the actual bahavior of MS Office 2003.
Lacking the ability to right-click on toolbar to show/hide toolbars is inconvenient.
