Description 5984hseprq 2004-09-02 17:45:38 UTC
I am using the german version of OOo1.1.1 with OO 1.0 Drawing (.sxd)
Was using Staroffice 5.1 and did not have this problem.

To experience my problem "please follow me":

1. Open new Drawing
2. Choose type of object - straight line
2. Draw a straight horisontally from left to right- when doing so I get no "feed
back" on the screen what dimensions my object have = length of the straight line.
3. The size of the straight line is not indicated at the bottom of the drawing
in the bottom bar. This is missing. From the left of the bar the CHANGE of
position in x/ x coordinates are shown. In the next field to the right I miss
the size of my object = height and width.
4. To get size choose F4 - this is too complicated and much to slow.

Thank you very much in advance for helping me with this issue.

In Tools > Configure > Status Bar there is a checkbox "Size". Is it checked? (My
system: OOo1.1.2 WinXP)

Changed priority.

The line length is not shown when drawing it. But when you are finished with it,
grab one endpoint with the mousepointer and move it: in the status bar you see:
difference from the starting point, length, angle. Is that what you searched for?

Thanks for your rapid respons.

This feature I have down left = indicates the CHANGE of coordinates.
What I'm looking for is when I draw or click onto an object I would like to see
the absolute position and size.

Let's try this:

Draw a square 20 by 20 mm anywhere on the sheet => while doing so you should be
able to the size and position down right next to the bar showing the CHANGE of
position. If you cannot see this while you draw it, you will never now the size
until you stop and go for F4 for size. And that is not practical.

Thanks a lot.

Ok, but that would be an enhancement. We did not have this feature in OO1.0 or
OO1.1 which we use for referrence. So I set this one here to enhancement. Thanks
for your help.
Reassigned to Bettina.

Dear Regina,
"Size" is/ was checked => still does not give actual size at the moment of drawing.
See my comment below for further details.
Best regards and thanks

Hi "02s84hseprq",
while I draw an object, there is in the middle of the statusbar (left of the
zoom-field) a field, which tells me by its left entry, where the left-upper
corner of my object is and by its right entry, what the width and heigt of the
object is. Weight and height follow my drawing. When I finished drawing and
later on click on that object, it tells me again left-upper corner and width and
height. When I move the object, left-upper corner information is updated
accordingly. The differences are shown in the leftmost field, where also the
type of the object is shown. Isn't it this, what you want? I use version 1.1.2;
perhaps you try, wether your problem has gone with the new version.

Dear Regina,

thanks for your tip.
Have installed version 1.1.2 (english).
The features needed are incorporated in this versio.
It works fine.

Once again, many thanks for your rapid and competent assistance.
Have a nice week-end.
