Description oharboe 2004-09-05 15:27:54 UTC
The slide is always pasted at the end of the presentation, instead of after
the selected slide as expected.

Reassigned to Christian.
Comment 2 christian.guenther 2004-09-06 12:33:09 UTC
set to new and change the target.
Comment 3 christian.guenther 2004-09-06 12:33:56 UTC
I can reproduce the bug.
Please have a look.

Accepted.

This problem is absolutely anoying.

In very rare cases, it also happens that a newly created slide flushes to the
end of the presentation, if the "new slide" context menu entry is selected in
the slide sidebar. Unfortunately, I'm not able to reproduce this in an
"artificial" presentation.

Isn't this a candidate for an 2.0\epsilon milestone, where \epsilon is a small
positive number?
Comment 6 haui 2005-06-17 14:17:36 UTC
Could this be a regression of/to/from issue 16713?
Comment 7 groucho266 2005-06-17 14:22:53 UTC
In a current build this seems to work as expected. I have to check this more
thoroughly, though.
Comment 8 haui 2005-06-17 14:25:36 UTC
In m109, which is not yet linked from the web, but available on some ftps, it
can still be observed.

I would add the following remark:
- if you cut-&-paste a slide (N°1) to create a new slide (N°2), then the new
slide has the same name as the original one (OK so far, but read on...)
- then you edit the new slide (N°2), so content is changed
- going back to slide sorter to cut-&-paste that new (N°2) slide to create a new
slide again (N°3) will paste the first one (N°1) instead of the changed one
(N°2), which is not the desired effect.
- the only way to cut-&-paste slide N°2 is to rename it first.

I just want to confirm that this is still an issue in OO 1.9.122
having two presentations open and copying a slide in the first and trying to
paste it at the insertion point in the slide sorter or the Slides bar of the
normal view is not working, the pasted slide is always appended to the end of
the presentation.
This also happens when the slides have individual names (so I'm not pasting a
"Slide 2" into a presetation where a "Slide 2" already exists).
As dragging a slide in the slide sorter from the end to the insertino point is
rather slow, especially when working in presentations with >50 slides, the
described problem slows down the efficiency a lot.

I think I have repaired the bug and make the slide is pasted at the right
position.
I have make the patch file.

This problem, originally filed in spetember 2004, does still exist in the new OO3.0
When using the "normal" view with on the left side a pane showing all slides in
one column and when pasting a slide at a defined position from another
presentation, this slide will always be inserted as the last slide. This is a
minor problem for small presnetation, but with presentation >100 slides this
becomes very annoying, especially as in the slide sorter you cannot drag a slide
outside the window. So to get a slide from the last position to the first, you
need to drag on top of the screen, scroll the window to further up, drag again
etc. ........ you do this for 10 pasted slides and you are ready to hit the screen

This is mostly a duplicate of issue 94242.
Comment 14 Regina Henschel 2008-10-24 15:16:20 UTC
@brendel: Why do you use copy$paste? To insert a slide from another presentation
which is not opened, you can use Insert > File. The slide will be inserted after
the actual slide, including masterpage. To insert a slide from another
presentation which is opened drag the slide from the slide pane or slide sorter
of the source to the slide pane or slide sorter of the destination. To move a
slide inside a presentation use Window > New Window to generate a new view of
the presentation and than again drag&drop. At least on WinXp this works.
I know it is only a workaround for the copy&paste error, but perhaps it will
ease your working.
