Description ugen64 2004-09-06 02:44:21 UTC
While I was working on a text document, my OpenOffice.org suddenly started
having problems. Right now, I cannot select text correctly; for example, I
attempted to select the last 3 words in the last line of the document, and it
ended up selecting about 3 inches of empty space starting at the right margin.
Sometimes, while I'm typing, random letters disappear, and when I attempt to
select any text by double-clicking (to select a word), triple-clicking (to
select a line), or dragging the mouse cursor, it doesn't work correctly.
Oftentimes, when I click somewhere in the body of the text, it puts the cursor
on the right margin, even though there's no text there... I've restarted
OpenOffice numerous times, and I've tried restarting my system, but to no avail.

MRU->SBA: pls care about this.
Comment 2 stefan.baltzer 2004-09-06 16:15:35 UTC
SBA-: Not reproducible in OOo 1.1.2 and developer build (OOo 2.0 cand. 680m52)
-> set to "Worksforme"
SBA->ugen64: Please upgrade to a younger version, verify your findings and
comment here.
Thank you.

Ah, my mistake. The problem is in OpenOffice 1.1.2, I accidentally put down
1.0.2... I can provide screenshots if you wish, the problem's still there...

Ah, I've figured it out. The font Palatino Linotype apparently causes the
problem, because when I switched to Gentium (a freeware font that looks nice
that I found on the Internet), it solved the problem. Also, when I tried
printing out with the defective Palatino Linotype, the printed page was
formatted weird, with letters overlapping and stuff. Perhaps it's only a font
problem?

SBA: This looks very much like a broken font. Closed.
