Description hamagubur 2004-09-06 19:49:54 UTC
1) I create a new Dokument (File -> new -> Etiketten -> Avery Zweckform 3689)
2) In "grafics mode" I enter text (text in textboxes)
3) I turn the textboxes 90 Degrees and copy the text on each etiquette
4) I save the file (by default in MS Word 97/2100/XP format) and close it

When reopening the file the formatted textboxes are
a) turned back 90 Degrees
b) not in the former position anymore

After that I rearrange the file so that it looks correct again. I save and
close. When reopening the same effect again! But the textboxes are now placed
differently then before but all turned again 90 degrees back and in the wrong
position...

I can send the files so that you can have a look (a PDF befor saving and with
correct layout, Oodoc for the destroyed layout.

Of course not a P1 task. Lowered to P3.
Comment 4 michael.ruess 2004-09-23 15:52:50 UTC
Please attach the file in .sxw format, so that we can see what kind of objects
(and how these) were used before exporting to .doc format. We have to see the
way, how it goes wrong. Thanks a lot!

Comment 7 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-05-14 15:06:57 UTC
I can confirm that problem with 1.1.4 (German) WIN XP: [645m52(Build8824)] and
with 2.0 (1.9.m79) English version WIN XP: [680m79(Build8876)]
You can reproduce that very simply:

1. Open new text document
2. make visible Drawing-Toolbar with 'Menu: View - Toolbar - Drawing'
3. Click "Text"
4. Mark some text field on the sheet and enter some Text like "This is a
horizontal Text"
5. Mouseclick on the sheet somewhere outside the text
6. Click on the textfile with rightclick
7. Click Context menu "Position and Size", Card "Rotation"
9. Click Angle "90° / <OK>
10. Save document as OOo Document
11. Save Document as WORD2000 Document
12. Close
13. Open WORD2000 Document with OOo
Expected: looks normal with 90° turned text
    Actual: as expected
14. Open WORD2000 Document with WORD2000
Expected: looks normal with 90° turned text
Actual: Text field is in correct position and size, but text in it is not
turned 90°, but still horizonatal, and so, it is destroyed.

This is not really an OOo problem, but OOo has a feature which is not supported
by WORD. If you try to save the file as "WORD- .doc!", there is a warning "This
document might contain ... not supported by ...", and that is enough.

So I think this is not a defekt, but a feature-issue "Convert turned text in
writer documents to bitmap when export to doc" or something similar.

Comment 8 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-05-14 15:13:30 UTC
Changed summary for feature: might be helpful to convert drawing mode text
fields to image or something else when saving as WORD file to avoid problems
with non horizontal texts (see my comments Sat May 14 07:06:57 -0700 2005)

I can only see very low priority for that issue.

Related to issue 25140 or issue 49207 ?
Comment 10 michael.ruess 2005-05-18 10:15:57 UTC
MRU->FLR: it looks, that some of the vertical text objects are exported wrongly,
other are even not exported.
