I have tried to install openoffice.org 3 times but it gets to 99% and then 
stops and freezes and will not move on, is there a cure for this many thanks

This is not a common problem. Please be more detailed:
- specify your OS (first or second edition, language etc.)
- specify your system (file system ram etc.)
- specify the OOo version
Have you checksummed your downloaded files? Please provide the url of your
download source. Maybe you can get some support in users@openoffice.org
