Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 34151
Page printing not complete
Last modified: 2004-09-27 14:34:56 UTC
Finding error in printing on HP 630C. Not tried any other printer. Some pages with margins about 10mm , in landscape mode, do not give complete printing, even though print preview shows full page. Some part from the edge gets cut off in printing. In potrait mode, printing is even worse and lot of document gets cut off even though it shows in preview. The margins have to be adjusted by trial and error to get the complete print.
Sorry to tell you, but I can't reproduce this. Please attach a document which shows this behaviour. Also check that the margins are set to fit the ones given by the hardware. You may also check the settings for 'use printer metrics! under tools options spreadsheet general. Frank
i have also tried to replicate this bug, with no success i attempted to make my own document with smallest aloud margins. i removed all header and footer space in an attempt to get text as close as possible to the edges of the page. i only experienced your error when i attempted to take margins below recomended minimums. For referance i have a Hp PSC 750 printer and was running OO 1.1.2 on a windows xp OS. i will try again if you post the file you had issues with. this should be looked into, end users who have printing problems are not happy users, i know from experience. I couldn't reproduce this error with my hp deskjet 940c. I think it has to do with older model hps, because I had family members with similar problems. I think it a problem that relates to the 600 series. Hp might have released a needed driver update by now, Hopefully. Thanks everyone. Will try to post file if possible and also print on another printer and get back. I made an error, I have HP670C.
I tried duplicating your error with your printer but I was unable to reproduce the problem either. I tried it on both platforms (using the only printer I have) on both (which shouldn't have caused differences). I also tried taking the margins lower than yours to about 7mm, and i was still unable to replicate your problem. I'm using a HP officejet 4110. I actually have the same family printer back home so I'll test it out there and see if I can reproduce it on within the same family. ::PC:: P4 3.2GHz with Hyperthreading 1GB RAM ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128Mb 7gig and 120gig hardrives WinXP Home SP2 OOoV1.1.2 with java environment ::Alienware Laptop:: P4 3.0Ghz with Hyperthreading 512MB RAM nVidia GeForce go 5600 128Mb 60gig hardrive WinXP Pro SP2 OOoV1.1.2 without java environment ::Printer:: HP Officejet 4110

I have attached 2 files, one of the print preview and other of actual print for all to see difference. hope to solve the problem soon. checked drivers of HP670C all ok.
Glen John September 25th 2004 I was not able to reproduce this issue. All spreadsheets I tried printing printed fine. System Configuration •Windows XP SP2 •Microsoft Office 2003 SP1 •OpenOffice 1.1.2 •Intel Pentium M (Dothan 735) •512 Ram •60 GB Harddrive Printer -HP Deskjst 656c
Hi, the only difference I can imagine between the attached pictures is the shadow of the print preview. This shadow is not a printable part of the document. If this is not the thing you observe, please attach a document that shows this behaviour, otherwise I have to close this Issue as worksforme. Frank
The attached documents were not very clear. Actually the print preview document shows very less right margin whereas in actual print there is very little left margin. Anyway I could solve the problem by changing the printer, used HP3030 and it worked fine. So this issue can be closed, don;t know how to do that though.
Hi, Ok I close this Issue, but if possible please attach a document showing the problem. It seems that this is a problem with a special kind of printer, but to check this, we need the document which makes this trouble. Thanks for your help. Frank
