Workaround: Use heading 5 to 8 directly. The problem seems to be the appendix styles linked to the heading styles. (5.78 KB, application/vnd.sun.xml.writer)

Description paaguti 2004-10-01 09:48:17 UTC
I have a document where one part of the Headings uses numbers (1.1.1) and
another part uses an appendix format (A.2.2) I define a bookmark on one of the
appendix headings and when I crossreference the bookmark, selecting the chapter
number, something weird shows up.

Well, from the "OOo Writer's point of view"the way you use the outline numbering
cannot work and the reference also.

To make it work in the Writer, do as following:
- delete any formatting (paragrph styles and numberings) from the Appendix titles
- Apply to Appendix level 1, 2, 3 respectively the styles Heading 5, 6, 7
- Go to "Tools - Outline numbering"
- Apply Heading styles 5, 6, 7 to Levels 4, 5, 6.
- For Heading 5, define: Number "A,B,C..."; Showlevel: "1"
- For Heading 6, define: Number "1,2,3..."; Showlevel: "2"
- For Heading 7, define: Number "1,2,3..."; Showlevel: "3"

ES->MRU: Because it's an import of MS-Word, do you know about such outline
numbering mapping roblems?

I followed the instructions with a freshly installed OpenOffice 1.1.3 on a
template file. I saved the template and then created a new file out of it (see
attached) When I saved the document I saw the outline numbering. But when I
reopen the document, the numbering of the appendices disappears!!!

????

ES->OS:Can you please help finding out why the appendix styles/parargraph loose
their numbering?
I thought I'd fake double serie of Outline numbering using Headin 1-4 for normal
Outline numbering on level 1-4 and "restarting" the numbering at level 6 by
displaying only the first sublevel.
This works fine if I use the predefined "Heading" style but as you see in the
attached doc, using custom styles "Appendix" lead to a numbering loss..

Any Idea?
