when oo.org is started, it displays a splash screen. usually it takes several 
seconds, on most machines - much longer - until it is shown. this leads to some 
users lauching the program several times etc. if possible, splash screen should 
come up faster.

Seconded.
On my 800Mhz system, the splash screen takes a good 15 seconds or so to appear
-- long enough for me to think that either it's crashed, or that I didn't
double-click a document fast enough for example.

updated within the last 3 years. Please consider re-testing with one of the
latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been addressed.
