Description wolver 2004-10-08 15:35:52 UTC
Opening this MS Word 97 document will lead to bad formatting of really simple
header page. The issue is that tables are broken, the text is hidden partially
behind the bottom of the first page and formatting generally is screwed.

This document has **** and AAAA in it and it's ok, because I have removed some
of the text which is confidential.

Our company would move to OOo however because of such issues with our documents
(happening very often) we cannot leave MS Office. For clarity: this document is
opening properly under Word 97, 2000 and XP (polish and english versions).

To me, this looks exactly the same as in MS Word 2003.
Please add a screenshot and mark the problematic area(s) on this, so that I can
see, what's wrong when viewing this on your system. Feel free to reopen issue
when you have done so.
Thanks for supporting us!

Comment 6 wolver 2004-10-08 16:35:30 UTC
I have attached screenshots of the problematic header page. The issue is mainly
bad formatting of the tables, text going "under" the bottom of the page and bad
table widths and heights.

I have added two additional screenshots from Word 97. It doesn't matter that
first screenshots are created under Linux and the second are from Windows. The
same problem with formatting occurs under OOo1.1.3 under Windows 2000/XP. It
would be good if this issue was resolved fast because many of the documents in
our company looks totally screwed under OOo.

Also when opening this document under OpenOffice 1.1.3 this blue line is moved
under the text and not next to it.

MRU->US: it is a font replacement problem with OO on Linux. The "Times New
Roman" is replaced by something, which does not fully fit onto the page (table
cell) here.
Comment 12 wolver 2004-10-15 08:13:22 UTC
In my opinion this IS NOT font replacement problem. Rather this is TABLE
FORMATTING problem. This bug occurs also on Windows 2000 Pro SP8 and Windows XP
SP1. It may be also font replacement problem, but if you look at screenshots you
will see that header page on the left side has broken table reendering.

us->mru: I have no clue for what ever kind of a font problem. Would you mind to
re-evaluate this?
Comment 15 michael.ruess 2006-01-25 12:17:38 UTC
Now I recognized, that you opened the document with OpenOffice 1.1.3.
due to issue 2109 this document can be viewed correctly with OO 2.0 or newer.
Download newest OO 2.0.1 and try out!

opening the fikle with OO 2.0.1 looks quite perfectly on SUSE 9.3 Linux.
